A pair of former LSU wide receivers, Early Doucet and Brandon LaFell, just might surprise some this NFL season with their production.
Early Doucet benefits from the departure of Anquan Boldin from Arizona. And some are already projecting that rather than moving Steve Breaston into that wr2 role behind Larry Fitzgerald that the Cardinals might be better served keeping Breaston at wr3 as Doucet assumes the wr2 position. Matt Lienart stepping up and fulfilling his potential at qb certainly has a lot to do with any success Doucet can muster this season. But chances are ripe for Doucet to enjoy a break-out season.
Brandon LaFell benefits from being drafted to a team, the Carolina Panthers, with no clear fixture at the wr2 position behind Steve Smith. Mushin Muhammed has retired and Dwayne Jarrett has been a perennial disappointment. Matt Moore closed last season on a high note at qb and with a running game that rivals all others, the Panthers just might find a consistent place for LaFell to fit into their offensive scheme.
